We have new pictures up on the site. We took these on Ryan’s birthday. Check them out.

Christmas
The holidays are soon approaching. Ive done all the Christmas shopping, well almost, I think we have 3 more people left. I hate Christmas shopping. Im typically a girl that you have to drag kicking and screaming out of a mall, but when they are jam packed, I couldnt get out of there fast enough. You can never find what you are looking for and there are people yelling and screaming and no one is in a good mood. The whole spirit of Christmas is lost. Not to mention, do you really think that Christ ‘you know the guy this is supposedly about’ would actually want us celebrating what we have estimated is his birthday this way? I dont think so. People become rude to one another, fighting over presents. People in the mall all have chips on their shoulders. The average American will go 5,000 into further debt. Is it really worth it? Sending Christmas cards is a big enough deal in my opinion, but then I am the one writing them. I grew up celebrating a very quite Christmas. We never had much money so rarely did we have gifts, and then when there were gifts they were always silly little things that my dad had thought of at the last second, mainly because somehow he was always able to ignore the fact it was Christmas. I wish I could do that. So we would sit around our tree which I would have put up and made a mess of decorating, talk and sing Christmas carols. As the years have gone by, I miss those simple Christmas. Ive done the large gathering, where it takes hours to open presents and everyone oohs and awws, and its all so silly. When we have kids I dream around sitting our Christmas tree with a couple of presents and singing carols. How do you celebrate Christmas?
A guy on /. has figured out The Microsoft Plan
Three Rings for the Microsoft-Developers under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-VPs in their halls of stone,
Nine for IIS System Administrators doomed to die,
One for Steve Ballmer on his dark throne
In the land of Richmond where shadows lie.
One Application to rule them all, One Palladium to authenticate them,
On Application to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Richmond where Shadows lie.
DVD Problems
This article was posted by a fellow slahdotter. It is quite informative about possible dvd problems. I had no idea that this was something that was even possible. Weve invested heavily in a dvd collection, and those things arent cheep. It would be horrible if they started to deteriorate. I thought that by going to dvd wed eliminatned the possibility of picture quality and sound fading, and we have, but only to stumble onto a new problem. Needless to say Im going home to check our Contact dvd tonight.
Active
I do not understand why people seem to think that you have to be active doing this and that to have a fulfilling life. It all starts in high school where you are programmed into thinking that you have to do all the sports and clubs to be a good person and to grow. I think that it is sad that people feel that is the only way to grow and learn about themselves. Im not saying that you should sit on your butt and watch tv. And I suppose that all the activities do help some people, but that is not the only way to grow. Usually when you are quite and peaceful, that is when you learn the most. Just a thought.

- Bjarne Stroustrup

Haunted Houses
Its that time of the year again. People whip out the cute Halloween decorations ‘although there is a house not too far from us that has gone WAY overboard’ the air is crisp and of course we Texans are sporting the layered look and leather coats even though its just 50 outside. We went to a haunted house last weekend and each time Ive gone ’3 times’ to a haunted house Ive been disappointed. I dont like being scared and dont really see the point. I think standing in the line gets me all wound up and anxious, because after we make it through one it was really quite silly. Its always the same thing someone jumps out at you. I dont understand why that is worth 20 bux. Out of the 4 or 5 haunted houses we went through only one was any good. It was a haunted house with clowns. If youre not scared of clowns, I dont know what is wrong with you. The idea of having a smile painted on 24/7 is bad enough, without the crazy hair, big shoes, and all the noises they make. Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Need I say more.
