Christmas

The holidays are soon approaching. I’ve done all the Christmas shopping, well almost, I think we have 3 more people left. I hate Christmas shopping. I’m typically a girl that you have to drag kicking and screaming out of a mall, but when they are jam packed, I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. You can never find what you are looking for and there are people yelling and screaming and no one is in a good mood. The whole spirit of Christmas is lost. Not to mention, do you really think that Christ ‘you know the guy this is supposedly about’ would actually want us celebrating what we have estimated is his birthday this way? I don’t think so. People become rude to one another, fighting over presents. People in the mall all have chips on their shoulders. The average American will go 5,000 into further debt. Is it really worth it? Sending Christmas cards is a big enough deal in my opinion, but then I am the one writing them. I grew up celebrating a very quite Christmas. We never had much money so rarely did we have gifts, and then when there were gifts they were always silly little things that my dad had thought of at the last second, mainly because somehow he was always able to ignore the fact it was Christmas. I wish I could do that. So we would sit around our tree which I would have put up and made a mess of decorating, talk and sing Christmas carols. As the years have gone by, I miss those simple Christmas. I’ve done the large gathering, where it takes hours to open presents and everyone “oohs” and “awws,” and it’s all so silly. When we have kids I dream around sitting our Christmas tree with a couple of presents and singing carols. How do you celebrate Christmas?
