Job

Well, I’ve finally gotten a job… *pauses for applause* Thank you thank you very much. It’s a great company and I’m having a good time. It’s only been a week, but the first one is usually a rough one. The company is under huge restructure. They’ve closed down a location and everyone is kind of running around with their head cut off, but it’s fun. The best part is that it’s 8 mins from the house and Ryan and I can carpool. Good thing for me, because I don’t have ac in the car, however, it has been chilly outside lately, but I also have a hole in my soft top. So things are going well, Ryan has to adjust to not having my cooking every night. I’m just too tired. But things are good.

Job Search

I’ve been on the hunt for a job lately, and boy do I have some stories. I went on an interview the other day for a job downtown, which is quite the drive for me, and it’s not in the best part of town either. Although I originally went in for a position as an administrative assistant, I felt as though I was being interviewed for a position as a hooker. Part of my job duties was to make sure I looked pretty at all times and serve dinner to some of the schmucks and their clients in the office. I was required to work overtime until 10:00pm. Also, I was to serve dinner, run and get anything desired by clients, and from the sounds of it, be a hussy at private suites the company had at sporting events. I cannot believe that there are jobs out there like that and that there are people out there that do them. I however am not. To any future employers out there that might view this page, that is not the job I’m looking for nor the kind of girl I am.

Dallas “haze”

After getting back into town from our Florida trip, I noticed a haze that seemed to surround Dallas. At first I thought it was my contacts because I had been sleeping on the plane, and maybe they just weren’t working yet. Then I thought it was fog. Nope. That “haze” is pollution. Yummy huh? It’s kind of sickening when you are driving down the road and you can’t clearly see a building but a few blocks ahead due to pollution. The nasty look of it all is just the start of how truly gross it is. You can feel it in the air. You can’t breath right. You come home and wash your face, and it feels like a film is on it. Well, I am now finally able to somewhat use my nose again for that thing called breathing, a wonderful thing I haven’t been able to do lately because I’m allergic to this “haze”. We’ve finally had some wind and rain to disperse it along the countryside. Maybe we need to be a little more kind to our environment.

Wal-Mart Rules

We were fortunate to live near a nice Super Wal-Mart at our old apartment, and did all of our grocery shopping there. Well, in our new place, we are near a Super Wal-Mart, but it’s quite old and ghetto. The food isn’t as fresh as it could be, so we’ve been making the trip back to our old Wal-Mart. Well, finally the whole lazy thing got to us, and the extra drive wasn’t worth it, or so we thought. Less than six blocks from our apartment is a Tom Thumb, a Kroger, and Albertson’s. Albertson’s being the lesser of the evils, even though they are no longer “Your Store” because they have jumped onto the frequent shopper card bandwagon. We attempted to do our normal grocery shopping, but couldn’t find some of the basic necessities such as Fruit Roll Ups…. We did thankfully find Gusher Fruit Snacks however when we ate them back home, they were old and hard. During our shopping trip at Albertson’s we found multiple things that had expired. They had special deals on meat that was just about to go old, and doughnuts that were a month old. We took some of the expired items off of the shelf and put them in our cart to give to the manager at the end of our trip, but as we continued we realized that if we continued to do that we wouldn’t have any more room for the few things that were still good. Finally, we were so disgusted and annoyed that we couldn’t find things that we left only to have a bill of $161.00. Now, Ryan and I do eat well, but dear lord that is a big bill. You should have seen how empty our cart was! Needless to say we drove the extra miles to go back to our trusty Super Wal-Mart, and were pleased to see a smaller tab and many more items. So hip hip hooray for Super Wal-Mart.

Spiffy New Romulan Ship

Ok, like all good trekkies, I am awaiting the release of the new Star Trek movie. And finally, we get to see my favorite speices on the big screen, the Romulans.

As you can see I sorta like ST:TNG. Not like The Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons, but close. Worst Episode Ever..that would be just about anything from the first season.

I got Jess hooked on it. So much so, she actually lets me drop about $100 bucks for the seasons DVD’s so we can see each episode back to back, and as many times as we want. I swear she was not drunk…but that aside, she actually likes ST. Scary huh?

Get out there and see this movie. Support ST!

Maybe I should be a Jedi

Well, since my objections to the basic Christian faith are quite well known, I wont get into it here.

It appears that over 70,000 folks in Aussie land, tried to claim they were a Jedi, as thier faith. Of course the narrow minded goverment said that it was a waste of resources and that the goverment will attempt to fine people that did put that.

But in a country, like the US or Aussie Land, that promotes freedom of religion, how can they say that one faith is a true faith, and one is not, without taking sides?

Of course, if the Jedi faith were as true as some would like, I guess all this would actually take is a little of the Jedi Mind Trick, and the problem would be solved. Since I am sure Paraliment is simple minded enough to be easliy swayed, especially if they are anything like our Congress (Link Removed on Remote Site).

But then again, I dont think that worked, even in a galaxy far far away.

PS. Userfriendly’s Take on the subject

Greatful

Are you greatful for what you have? I\’ve been trying to plan our wedding. It\’s quite easy to get sucked into all the different things you think you *have* to have for a wedding especially being a girl. The decorations have to be just so. You want to have the bows done perfectly and so on. I never realized what this was doing to my soon to be husband and our wallet. Then I feel that I had a healing, a message from God. It came clear to me that none of that was necessary and we needed to change our plans. Once deciding to downsize everything seemed to fall into place without a glitch. We found out we could have a private room at our favorite restaurant, save $1200 on the plane tickets, spend two extra days on our honeymoon for no extra charge. I can spend a day at the spa with some of the money we put down on a reception room. Everything is looking much easier and less stressful. I am not forced to take a job that doesn\’t pay well, has a difficult boss, and no vacation just because we need the money. Now we\’re able to go back to doing all the things we once had a lot of fun doing. I am so grateful that I finally heard what I was really supposed to be doing. Are you?

Customer Service

Just when I thought customer service was a thing of the past…. out of nowhere someone wows your socks off. After our recent visit to New Jersey, I’d lost faith in a thing called customer service. Our first night we had someone who we figured out was the host of the restaurant only after he was half way down the hall with the menus look back and glare at us. The hotel we stayed at charged a $70 late fee because we were two hours past check out time, even though we’d told them our first night that we would be late to check out, and the company that sent us has at least two people in that hotel every night. Then we had a recent episode with our bank who is supposed to be working for you, but they aren’t folks. All people seem to care about these days is making a buck.

Up to tonight, I’d lost faith. We are planning our wedding and have recently figured out that while it would be great fun to have a Cinderella wedding, no one tells you the price tag that comes with that, and the burden it brings. It dawned on us that a wedding is about two souls coming together and expressing love for each other and God… not the table arrangements, guest list, or food.

At this point we’ve already signed a few contracts and put down some money. Upon calling our great “band guy” and explaining our situation he was more than willing to help us come to a more than happy medium. Craig provided something called Customer Service. Something that in this fast paced world had just about become extinct. It’s so refreshing to find an individual that can see the bigger picture. Someone that can see beyond what would have been a buck today can turn into something much more than that later. It’s things like that that make a world of difference, and that’s why we were willing to pay what we were. I, we, really appreciate it and hope that more people can see the bigger picture.
