Where I work, we have this really ”hotelish” carpet. Basically I could recreate the Exxon Valdez accident in my cube, I dont think anyone would notice, the carpet just makes it all blend in.
Walking in today, i saw some movement on the floor near the ladies room. I bent over, and noticed it was a little lizard. A skink or anole of some sort, but it blended in the carpet very well. I couldnt see it unless it moved. I attempted to herd it out of the way, but noticed that it liked being in the middle of the busy hall, so i captured it. The onlookers, both of them, thought I had lost some money. When I told the AP girl that it was a lizard, the ”eeewwwww” soon ensued. I took the little fella outside and released him right next to a cricket, so I guess I was his personal maitre’d, and i think i gave him a good table, even though he didnt have reservations.
So, my kindness, or boredom depending on how you look at it, has made me wonder. Would everyone save the lizard? Would you ignore it? Or would you go out of your way to step on it?
