Good Bye Job

I quit my job. I only have two weeks, possibly four, left. I’m torn about the decision. Why? I’m not sure. I look forward to being a stay at home mommy for my sweet Illi. I think it’s fear of the unknown. While I’m not particularly happy with my current job, and certianly not challenged, I know what it will be everyday. Where along the road did I become comfortable with familiarity I’m not sure. I used to change jobs and my surroundings at the drop of a hat. I’m sure I’ll be much happier at home. I know Illianna will be and in turn I will too. I’ve already signed up for a playgroup, so that will keep me connected and hopefully give me something other than Illianna and Oprah to discuss with Ryan.

We went to the Dallas World Aquarium on Saturday. Anyone who lives in the DFW area should go. This is one of our favorite spots. I’ve been telling my co-worker, Julissa, to go there for ages and actually ran into her with her family.
Before getting on the road Illianna and I had some fun with hats. My nana loves kids in hats and I tend to agree.
Cruel and Unusual Punishment

The other night Ryan and I had been play harassing each other as usual, but he took it to the next level.
Let me give you some background…Some people might find the spray of the toilet refreshing on their derriere. I am not one of those people. I think that automatically flushing toilets are a great idea as long as they are calibrated properly. I cannot stand having the toilet randomly flushing on me, and of course they typically decide to act that way when I *really* have to go to the bathroom. So when the toilets start flushing I rush to stand up, which makes it difficult to relax. ‘There was one time I was at the airport and *all* of the toilets were randomly flushing. I kept getting up at the sound of every flush because I was never sure if it was mine or one next to me.’
So, the other night Ryan came over and flushed the toilet while I was using it.
[Ryan: I am still laughing]

I admit it. You caught me. I have violated a patent several times in the last few weeks. Our cat Tiki needed some exercise, and BAM, Patent US5443036 slams me in the face. Who knew!?
Assuming there is only one moron involved, -1 more moron.
Kaskade

A long time favorite of mine, Kaskade, has a song I’m totally in love with right now, ‘Wink of an Eye’. Illianna and I danced to it last night before bath time. Everyone should have something by Kaskade on their ipod.

This photo was taken at Thanksgiving right after it snowed. Yes, it was snowing in Texas on Thanksgiving and today it was a sunny 72. While Illianna was in attendance, she was passed out, and you let a sleeping baby sleep.
While I love my baby girl and am having major separation anxiety ‘I return to work next week’, I am looking forward to leaving Illianna at home to attend Ryan’s Christmas party. I can even fit a little black dress of mine! Woohoo! I got this dress years ago for one of my Christmas parties. I love it when I can reuse a dress, but I’m really looking forward to wearing my shoes that go with the dress. If you’re lucky I’ll post photos.

Illi had a photo shoot this morning. I wanted to make sure to get pictures of her in the cute little ruffle pants before she got to big. Thank you to Grandma Cathy for the wardrobe ‘and hint to make bow stay’. This is one of my favorite photos.

Comic Book Convention

A few weekends ago Ryan suggested we attended our first ‘but not last’ comic book convention. He’d heard on the radio that Wizard World was going to be in town and found out Top Cow was going to be in attendance. Our $20.00 admission bought us 3-4 hours of fun and we could have stayed longer if Illianna wasn’t getting fussy.
There were so many cool vendors, the people watching was great ‘yes there were people in tights and capes’, and I had flashbacks to my teen years. Ryan and I both were on the look for old friends, but never came across any. It was great to see how the typical social misfit was totally in their element at the convention. I think everyone has a place in this world and figuring out where that is is a continuous process.
We found lots of goodies. Pawstar was one of the first. They have all sorts of cool things, but what really caught my attention was the cute bear hats. I recently had one of my coworkers pick me up the original Japanese version from Miki House when he was back in Tokyo for a visit. ‘I’ve got the shopping site bookmarked at work because it took me hours of randomly clicking around seeing as how I don’t read or speak Japanese- so good luck.’ Pawstar is much more reasonably priced and available in the US. Ryan was excited to come across Uberclok. ‘I think he goes to their website regularly and drools.’ We’ve got a pile of anime we need to watch and now we’re adding another movie to it.
The biggest find was some artwork by Dirk Strangely.
His name seemed very familiar to me and I thought I might have seen something of his at Hot Topic, but it was determined I’ve come across him from my shopping on ebay. He has a unique blend of dark and light. It reminds me of Mirror Mask.
All and all we had a great time being nerds and I can’t wait until next time.
