We bought a new house! It\’s a Highland Home. We\’re having it built from the ground up and are very excited about finally getting out of apartment living. We\’ve had enough of poor maintance, outrageous rent, and the smell of smoke coming up from our downstairs neighbors. So far our experience with Highland has been ok. The initial sales rep we spoke with didn\’t have a clue. She told us that features were included which actually weren\’t. They have however, thrown those items in for us at no charge. So right now there is a clean slate and we\’re starting to roll on the project. We\’ve finished our consultation at the design center and plan on meeting with the builder later this week *hopefully*. Update on life.
Well, we havent been posting much. Life has gotten quite busy. Things at my work have been crazy. All of the sexist remarks and verbal abuse finally stopped after speaking with HR. We moved office locations. Now we are right outside the door of the VP. Everyone is on much better behavior over here. The people in this building are much nicer and work harder. The wedding is right around the corner and I think we are both ready to have it over with. Even though we thought we wouldnt obsess about it all, weve started to. Ryan is constantly checking a website about the island were going to, and I have been on the phone with the florist 3 or 4 times this week. I think were both so anxious for it to be here, that fiddling with details everyday makes it seem like its sooner? Just a theory. Family members are just as bad though. The mothers have purchased 4 different outfits and finally I think theyve settled on something. I think the dads are nervous too. Were not having any kind of rehearsal so hopefully everything will work out ok. We still have to print the menus. I didnt realize how much stuff you had to do even if its a small wedding.
A guy on /. has figured out The Microsoft Plan
Three Rings for the Microsoft-Developers under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-VPs in their halls of stone,
Nine for IIS System Administrators doomed to die,
One for Steve Ballmer on his dark throne
In the land of Richmond where shadows lie.
One Application to rule them all, One Palladium to authenticate them,
On Application to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Richmond where Shadows lie.
Haunted Houses
Its that time of the year again. People whip out the cute Halloween decorations ‘although there is a house not too far from us that has gone WAY overboard’ the air is crisp and of course we Texans are sporting the layered look and leather coats even though its just 50 outside. We went to a haunted house last weekend and each time Ive gone ’3 times’ to a haunted house Ive been disappointed. I dont like being scared and dont really see the point. I think standing in the line gets me all wound up and anxious, because after we make it through one it was really quite silly. Its always the same thing someone jumps out at you. I dont understand why that is worth 20 bux. Out of the 4 or 5 haunted houses we went through only one was any good. It was a haunted house with clowns. If youre not scared of clowns, I dont know what is wrong with you. The idea of having a smile painted on 24/7 is bad enough, without the crazy hair, big shoes, and all the noises they make. Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Need I say more.
Job
Well, Ive finally gotten a job *pauses for applause* Thank you thank you very much. Its a great company and Im having a good time. Its only been a week, but the first one is usually a rough one. The company is under huge restructure. Theyve closed down a location and everyone is kind of running around with their head cut off, but its fun. The best part is that its 8 mins from the house and Ryan and I can carpool. Good thing for me, because I dont have ac in the car, however, it has been chilly outside lately, but I also have a hole in my soft top. So things are going well, Ryan has to adjust to not having my cooking every night. Im just too tired. But things are good.
Job Search
Ive been on the hunt for a job lately, and boy do I have some stories. I went on an interview the other day for a job downtown, which is quite the drive for me, and its not in the best part of town either. Although I originally went in for a position as an administrative assistant, I felt as though I was being interviewed for a position as a hooker. Part of my job duties was to make sure I looked pretty at all times and serve dinner to some of the schmucks and their clients in the office. I was required to work overtime until 10:00pm. Also, I was to serve dinner, run and get anything desired by clients, and from the sounds of it, be a hussy at private suites the company had at sporting events. I cannot believe that there are jobs out there like that and that there are people out there that do them. I however am not. To any future employers out there that might view this page, that is not the job Im looking for nor the kind of girl I am.
Spiffy New Romulan Ship
| Ok, like all good trekkies, I am awaiting the release of the new Star Trek movie. And finally, we get to see my favorite speices on the big screen, the Romulans.
As you can see I sorta like ST:TNG. Not like The Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons, but close. Worst Episode Ever..that would be just about anything from the first season. I got Jess hooked on it. So much so, she actually lets me drop about $100 bucks for the seasons DVD’s so we can see each episode back to back, and as many times as we want. I swear she was not drunk…but that aside, she actually likes ST. Scary huh? Get out there and see this movie. Support ST! |
