Nectar

Posted on Wednesday, August 4th, 2004 by jessica

We were in the grocery store recently and Ryan told me how I’d have to drink Ensure once I’m pregnant ‘not that we’re trying… so don’t ask’. Curiosity led us on a treasure hunt so I could sample some and know what I was in store for. After wondering the store for an additional 15 minutes looking in all the logical placements ‘clearly our down fall’, and our apprehension to ask the teenie bopper employees for fear the infamous blank stare would appear or better yet a response of, “Isn’t that what old people drink?” we came across the golden nugget. Ryan grabbed the Plus version and we high tailed it out of dodge. So here I am, a month later, with an addiction. Every morning I succumb to the intoxicating liquid. I’ve branched to different varieties and I must say each is as sweet, but I always come home to my first, Plus. I tried the Carnation version and felt dirty for even trying it. The low carb qualities do not help it’s cause.

The World of Low Fat

Posted on Tuesday, August 5th, 2003 by jessica

I was in the lunchroom just now and overheard some women talking about different recipes that were low fat. I think I’ve been greatly influenced by my dad’s philosophy. If it’s low fat it’s not worth eating. Ryan and I go through 4 sticks of butter at least every month. I like to use salt ‘thank you dad’ and sugar is your friend. As I’ve been realizing with my recent attempt at dieting, as long as you do things in moderation you’re fine. I still eat all the same food that I used to; I just don’t eat as much. I am constantly trying to monitor my intake. Just trying to make sure that I’m still hungry when I’m eating, and you don’t want to get full. This advice coming from Ryan, who has the fastest metabolism, I’ve ever seen.

Back to low fat. I’ve tried at various times throughout my life to cook and eat low fat and it’s just disgusting. Not to mention that a lot of the time the chemicals and extra processing that they do to things to make them low fat ends up being worse for you. And I must point out that every time you hear something on the news about how salt is bad for you, it’s just months later that you hear about how salt is good for you and how people have been dying due to lack of it. ‘replace the word salt with: eggs, sugar, milk, beef, butter, cheese’ I’ve only got one life to live and regular food is way too good to waste my time with low fat crap.

[Note from Ryan: Mmmmmmmmm..beeeeeef....*drool*]
