New Moon….please make it end

Ok, Jess and I watched Twilight New Moon the other night and I am still in a ball in the corner trying to understand if there was a point to those 2+ hours that I just missed.  I have finally come to the conclusion that no, there is no point.  The entire movie could have been made into about 12 minutes, because the rest of the time all we got to watch was one character or another staring off into the distance.  For the record, if it was even a slight surprise to you that Jacob was a werewolf, you are a mental defective and should stick to watching Dora the Explorer that way the plot is linear enough for you to follow.

Let’s go through a checklist of what it takes to make a Twilight movie:

Acting?  Nope.
Plot?  Nope.
Anything surprising at all?  Nope.
Wasting lots of time with montages as if that makes a movie?  Check.
Lots of staring into the distance?  Check.
Vocalizing the obvious?  Check.
Taking a 2×4 to your head to make sure you have a low enough IQ to enjoy Twilight?  Check.

The moral to the story is, if you drool on yourself, you will enjoy the movie.  Otherwise….have some dignity and watch Battlefield Earth instead.

The only way I may watch another one would be if it was like this:

Twilight Zone

As I sit and update our gallery with photos of our yard *wow… exciting* I can’t help but have scenes from Edward Scissorhands (removed by remote site) and The Burbs flash in my head.

I try to time it so Ryan and I aren’t leaving the house for work at the same time. Otherwise I have a very weird day.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

DVD Problems

This article was posted by a fellow slahdotter. It is quite informative about possible dvd problems. I had no idea that this was something that was even possible. We’ve invested heavily in a dvd collection, and those things aren’t cheep. It would be horrible if they started to deteriorate. I thought that by going to dvd we’d eliminatned the possibility of picture quality and sound fading, and we have, but only to stumble onto a new problem. Needless to say I’m going home to check our Contact dvd tonight.

Haunted Houses

It’s that time of the year again. People whip out the cute Halloween decorations ‘although there is a house not too far from us that has gone WAY overboard’ the air is crisp and of course we Texans are sporting the layered look and leather coats even though it’s just 50 outside. We went to a haunted house last weekend and each time I’ve gone ’3 times’ to a haunted house I’ve been disappointed. I don’t like being scared and don’t really see the point. I think standing in the line gets me all wound up and anxious, because after we make it through one it was really quite silly. It’s always the same thing… someone jumps out at you. I don’t understand why that is worth 20 bux. Out of the 4 or 5 haunted houses we went through only one was any good. It was a haunted house with clowns. If you’re not scared of clowns, I don’t know what is wrong with you. The idea of having a smile painted on 24/7 is bad enough, without the crazy hair, big shoes, and all the noises they make. Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Need I say more.

Spiffy New Romulan Ship

Ok, like all good trekkies, I am awaiting the release of the new Star Trek movie. And finally, we get to see my favorite speices on the big screen, the Romulans.

As you can see I sorta like ST:TNG. Not like The Comic Book Guy on the Simpsons, but close. Worst Episode Ever..that would be just about anything from the first season.

I got Jess hooked on it. So much so, she actually lets me drop about $100 bucks for the seasons DVD’s so we can see each episode back to back, and as many times as we want. I swear she was not drunk…but that aside, she actually likes ST. Scary huh?

Get out there and see this movie. Support ST!
